About National Park Kopaonik

National Park Kopaonik represents the region protected by the law and exactly restricted area which keeps its natural condition, and protect its own animal and plant species, its relief and another natural rareties.

National Park Kopaonik was founded and proclaimed in 1981, it covers an area of 11.800 ha, and has a protecting belt of 19.986 ha, 689 ha of the wildlife refuge is under special protection, in 13 natural reservates (areas), 26 natural monuments, 17 geomorphologic, 6 geologic, 8 hidrologic and 15 objects classified in inmovable cultural goods.

The park is placed on the highest part of the mountain. The base of the park represnts mountainous, relatively leveled region of the medium height above sea-level about 1700 m. The lowest altitude is about 640 m above sea-level. The highest altitude is Pancicev Vrh (2017m), where is Pancicev mausoleum in which he was buried.
